Okay, I can barely put into words the last two days. I don't know where to start. I think the pictures will tell it all. Monday morning I went from hosting the Animal Hall of Fame - hearing stories of heroic dogs saving people's lives - to watching the cast of SCTV rehearse old sketches and then getting to share the stage with them. It was crazy.
I was a mess during the Animal Hall of Fame ceremony. I joked at one point to the audience telling them I was the wrong person for the job. I could barely keep it together. Honestly, the stories of what these animals did were just amazing. And to see their owners walk them up that red carpet with the dramatic fanfare playing. Oh dear lord! It was too much. Then they were presented with a portrait that an artist had painted of their animal. I'm not kidding I was weeping the entire time. The people were lovely. One woman whose dog, Maggie May, had saved her from carbon monoxide poisoning had seen the WFC show in Winnipeg. Small world. It was such a great experience. I'm so glad I was a part of it.
Then racing to the Second City. Watching the rehearsals. Seeing Catherine, Marty, Eugene, Andrea and Joe up on stage. Loving each other and having the best time working together again. It was so amazing. And they were so gracious to us. I have to admit I was a bit terrified doing the Oprah sketch right after their first sketch, which KILLED! The audience was so pumped. I don't think I've ever felt an energy like that in an audience. It was like a rock show. Huge applause when each of them came out. I thought this one woman was going to have a stroke when Andrea came out as Edith Prickley. I totally understand. It was so amazing to see the characters I grew up watching on SCTV right there in the flesh as if no time had passed. The audience was so great to us. And we had such fun doing our sketches in the show. It really was an experience I will never forget.
